At Lifeline Support Services, we understand that coming home after incarceration—or rebuilding life after hardship—is not just a transition, it’s a transformation. For returning citizens, veterans, widows and widowers, individuals facing poverty, the elderly, and those who have experienced life-altering setbacks, the journey can be filled with emotional highs and lows, stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. That’s why we’re proud to offer our Visiting Emotional Support Animal (ESA) Program—a powerful tool for healing, grounded in compassion, connection, and care.
🫶 Why Emotional Support Animal Visits Matter
The trauma of incarceration, combined with the challenges of rebuilding life, can take a serious toll on mental and emotional wellness. Gentle, guided visits with trained emotional support animals can:
- Help reduce anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms
- Promote emotional regulation and relaxation
- Foster a sense of connection and trust
- Encourage positive social interaction for individuals and families
🐕 How the Program Works
Lifeline’s visiting ESA program brings certified support animals and experienced handlers into safe, welcoming community spaces to interact with individuals currently in reentry programs or recently released. Here’s what to expect:
- Friendly, supervised visits – All animals are trained and certified for emotional support outreach
- Trauma-informed care – Handlers are trained to be sensitive to the unique experiences of returning citizens, and others who have experienced life-altering setbacks
- Flexible locations – Available at transitional housing, partner reentry centers, senior support facilities, veterans’ programs, faith-based outreach events, and select community gatherings.
